Shazri Pierrott is an eight year old boy who’s heroic act will be remembered by many who witnessed it on Sunday the 25th August 2024.
While he was swimming at a beach in the South Eastern part of the Island. He observed one hatched leather back turtle struggling to reach the sea. He shouted out to his mother “mummy a small turtle is trying to get to the sea”. He got out of the water and he helped it to the water. Unfortunately, he found their nest beneath garbage and debris. Soon after he was able to dig the balance of the turtles free, and called out to the other children to assist him with getting them to the sea. Persons formed a line as he gave them a turtle to take to the water for a better and timely chance of survival. Shazri Pierrott was able to assist approximately 30 turtles with the help of others he called out to assist him. Kudos to him, for his observations, bravery and kind act towards nature.
