As part of their ongoing learning experiences beyond the classroom, students of Grades 4 and 5 recently embarked on an educational field trip to several local manufacturing companies in Saint Lucia. The visit provided students with a valuable opportunity to learn firsthand about how products are made and distributed, while gaining a deeper appreciation for the important role manufacturing plays in the nation’s economy.
One of the highlights of the excursion was a visit to Brice & Company Ltd., where students were introduced to the processes involved in producing and packaging a variety of household and industrial products. They observed how raw materials are transformed into finished goods and learned about the importance of quality control and workplace safety.
The students also visited Baron Foods Ltd., one of Saint Lucia’s leading food manufacturers. During the tour, they were able to see how popular local products are prepared, packaged, and distributed both locally and internationally. The visit sparked great interest as students learned about entrepreneurship, food production, and the company’s commitment to promoting Saint Lucian flavours around the world.
Throughout the day, students engaged with company representatives, asked thoughtful questions, and gained insight into the many career opportunities available within the manufacturing sector. The experience helped connect classroom learning to real-world applications in science, technology, business, and economics.
The field trip was both educational and inspiring, encouraging students to think about the journey products take before reaching consumers and the importance of supporting local industries. We extend our sincere gratitude to Brice & Company Ltd., Baron Foods Ltd., and all those who helped make this enriching experience possible.
Learning extends far beyond the classroom, and opportunities such as these continue to support our mission of preparing students to become informed, curious, and responsible citizens.
